Community Tax Aid, Inc. (CTA) provides free, high-quality tax assistance to low-income individuals and families in the DC area, both during the tax filing season, when our work is most visible, and also throughout the year, when taxpayers look for assistance in resolving outstanding issues, preparing amended returns, and preparing returns for prior years.

Each year, CTA serves over 5,000 low-income taxpayers at free tax preparation sites in DC, Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties in Maryland, and in the City of Alexandria, and Arlington County in Virginia. With the assistance of 500 volunteers each year, our clients receive over $7.5 million in federal and state refunds each year.
